Abstract Some corrosion progress trends specific for cylindrical steel shells of typical above-ground fuel tanks are first identified experimentally and then quantitatively compared with one another. The inference is based on many random thickness measurements related to the selected corrosively weakened coating sheets carried out at various moments in question service time. It shown detail that this type structures, due manner their use and, particularly, material stored inside, process general significantly accelerated over For reason, a nonlinear formal model describing simulated development anticipated future tank time seems be best choice forecasting its remaining failure.
